Ok, ok, ok, does the buyfixit .com really work? How is it even possible?
For the last 5-10 years, we’ve all seen scratch removers that claim to work, but I wanted to test out buyfixit .com to see if it was really the real thing. I took a few examples to see just how well it worked and to be honest, I was actually surprised. You can find it online for less than 20 dollars and there is currently a deal where you also get a car vacuum they are calling a power vac for free. You get two pens for cover up, an in the home bottle, and this extra power vac all for under 20 bucks. It seems like a good deal, but my first question was simple… does it work? My second question was how well it works? And my third questions was how long it works? Will it just fade over time? Is it resistant to wind and rain damage? Let’s take a look…
First off I tried using it on my 1968 Camaro that I had remodeled about 8 years ago and was starting to see a second generation of aging. The color was a little sun damaged, so I figured any kinds of touch up paint I used would be too noticeable. It was a midnight blue now it’s more of a sunlight blue. That all being said, still a beautiful car and I would never want to do anything that would hurt the car. I’m very weary of trying anything, whether it be buyfixit .com or not, on the car. From the moment I got it in high school, I’ve always taken great care of it. It was the car that helped me to win over my wife and if it weren’t for that car, I may not be living the great life I have right now. Nonetheless, I had a few scratches and decided to see if buyfixit .com was the real deal. First I wiped down the entire area and rinsed it off with some water. The water seemed to help remove any excess dirt. The I applied buyfixit .com and to my surprise it worked pretty well. In fact, I couldn’t even see the previous scratch was ever there. With every other touch up I’ve used there was a ton of clean up and they never matched perfectly. This went on smooth and looked great, but would it last? I took several pictures of my car throughout an 8 week period and actually took one picture every week. From the first week, it was apparent that this thing was working great. I was happy but also it was a little bitter sweet since I bet my wife it wouldn’t work. Amazingly enough, after 8 weeks, there was no difference from week 1. Everything still looked great and I was extremely excited to use it on some household appliances.
So, if you’ll remember my car was a lighter color blue. I used the exact same stick for my washing machine scratches that made it look all dinged up. The washing machine is more of a cream color, so I thought for sure it was not going to work at all. To my amazement, not only did it work, it worked great. For the next test, it was time to test it on a scratch that had been on the lawn mower and bothered me for years. This was a very large scratch and I didn’t think it would be possible for it to work. Again, I was impressed by buyfixit .com.
All in all, buyfixit .com is the real thing and I recommend it to everyone I know.
